Local Law Enforcement
Around 50 cars have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Automobiles, walls and postal boxes were vandalized, sometimes with swastikas, they announced in a statement.
Law enforcement report they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday, when a resident observed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish liquid.
The fluid had been drawn in the form of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Law enforcement then found numerous other smeared vehicles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws banning the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement say initial examinations indicate the liquid was likely blood from a person.
"Currently there is no indication as to its source; officials are currently not cognizant of any harm in relation with the incident," they added.
Municipal representatives announced they were working "to unravel the incident" and have requested to the community for tips.
A senior official said the attack rendered him speechless and had to be resolved promptly.
"This incident affects the core of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he stated on online, mentioning the murder of nine victims by a gunman aiming at people of immigrant origin in February 2020.
